We are all familiar with the various ABC books, an obligatory purchase for any new born. Nothing much has changed over the decades as can be seen by this gem. However, the precision of drawing of 26 birds, representing every continent offers an accuracy lacking in modern ABC books. The publishing House (Raphael Tuck and Sons) was a leader in the ‘postcard boom’ in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Sadly their headquarters was a casualty of the Blitz and so many of the originals were lost.
